More visitors!

We had more visitors for Micah this past week. Micah got to meet Grandma and Mark (yes, this is what the grand kids call him) this week. We had a great time going for walks, cooking yummy dinners and playing games. Micah got spoiled with Grandma rocking him right to sleep all the time! He loved it! He also thought Mark was a pretty funny guy and would smile for his silly faces. Mom and Dad also really enjoyed the little bit of extra sleep they got! We are sad to see them go and are looking forward to seeing all of our family when we are able to get back to Texas!

Male Pattern Baldness??

You might have noticed from the recent pics of Micah he seems to be missing a little something... His hair!! He has been losing his hair for about the past week. The hair loss is mostly just on top. He still has the ring of hair around the edges where it has always been thicker. This just further enhances his little old man look! We told him not to worry though, we still love him and it will grow back!!

You're One Month Old!

Micah-

Today you are one month old! The last four weeks have brought countless new adventures for all three of us. Each day you become more and more aware of the world around you. We watch your eyes take more in every single day. When you were born you barely fit into your newborn clothes and we had to go out out on your first week of life and buy you smaller clothes so we had something you could wear. Now you have just been growing like a weed! You came home from the hospital and two days later had already gained 5 ounces. Two weeks later you had grown an inch! Now you fit just right into all the newborn clothes we had for you. We are amazed to see how you change every day.

You were popular since your first day of life. You had so many people so excited to come visit you at the hospital. At one point you had so many people in our hospital room we joked that it was your first party. You have had people travel from near and far to visit you . Many of Mommy and Daddy's friends from work came to see you at the hospital and then you had lots of family fly in all the way from Texas. You got to meet both sets of your grandparents this month and your Aunt Jenny came all this way just to see you. You loved spending time with all of them and getting to cuddle up and nap with them and play with them. It was a really special treat for all of us to have our family come to see you.

We love everything about you and there are so many little things about you being so new to the world that just amaze us! You are so soft. Your baby skin is amazingly soft to the touch and I am in love with how smooth your elbows and knees are since they have never been used! When you were born your right ear was flat at the top and the nurse to us it was just because you weren't quite done growing it yet. She told us that you would keep growing and it would curl over. Sure enough in just a week your ear was "fully grown"! I think one of our most favorite things though, was how cute your cry was the first days of your life. Although we hated for you to cry, when you did you made the cutest little squeaking sound. I never want to forget these special things that made you, you in your first days of life.

These days we are beginning to get into a routine. You slept in our room for the first two weeks and then we put you in your crib. We all started to sleep better when you got in your own room. You are happy baby and you love to play. We play on your mat and do tummy time. You amaze us daily with your strength and development. From day one you have been able to hold up your head for a few seconds. Now at your tummy time you move your legs so strongly we thing you are about to crawl away! You can also already turn to your side. When we put you in your crib for a nap and you just lift up your legs and swing your body over to lay on your side! You are a morning person. In the mornings you are so alert and ready to play! Besides playing, we sing songs and read books. You are starting to really take interest in things and you follow these things with your eyes. You amazed the pediatrician when you did this at your two week appointment. Mommy and Daddy already know you are a genius though!

One of the things we do often during these pretty spring days are take walks. You love to be outside and the stroller and sling both lull you right to sleep. I like to think that all the walking just tires you out! We can spend hours walking around the neighborhood or on special days going to Swan Lake Park to visit the swans and see the beautiful blooms. You met your first friends this week too. You and baby Shaun like to take walks together and you got to meet baby Kaysen on the first day of his life!

You have changed, grown, and learned so much in just four short weeks. You stole our hearts the moment we met you and we love everything about you! We can't wait to see what the next month holds for us.

Love,

Mom and Dad

Play Time!!

One of the things I definitely underestimated before I became a mom was how hard it is to entertain a newborn. You want to interact with them and help them develop but I can do about everything I can think of to entertain him in about 15 min! We have been using this new play mat we got recently to let him "play" in the mornings (when he is in the best mood). It is still a little bit old for him but he enjoys looking at the toys and hearing us squeak and rattle them. Here are some fun pics from our play time. He is dressed in the cute outfit that Natalie sent us, Thanks Nat!!

More great news as my friends Keller and Chione welcomed their baby girl into the world this week. I am so happy to finally get to do one of these announcements in pink since Chione is one of my only friends that was pregnant with a girl! She is so adorable and we are really looking forward to being back in Texas sometime to meet this sweet baby girl.

Pass the paci, please!

We have given in and given Micah the pacifier. He is in LOVE! It is amazing how it can calm him down when he is upset and crying. We now affectionately call it the "mute button". The best part is that because he is so little the thing takes up half of his face! It is just too funny for words so here are the pictures.

Welcome Baby Kaysen

Congratulations Howie & Kendall!!

Micah and his new buddy Kaysen

While Daddy was at work today Mommy and Micah went back to the hospital to visit our great friends Howie and Kendall and meet their newest addition, Kaysen. Kendall is a natural mother and is doing great and Howie is already the perfect overprotective father. Kaysen is too cute for words and Micah is so excited to get to play with him.

Before we left we made sure to get a pic with the mommies and their sweet baby boys. And we just happened to be wearing matching outfits.

Falling Asleep

This may be one of those things that only the parents find fun to watch but we sure are entertained watching our little guy fall asleep. His leg has a mind of its own and just flails wildly about! Throw in some sweet baby noises and we are thoroughly entertained!! Enjoy our 30 second clip!

Last of the Photo Shoot

These are the last of the pics from the photo shoot with Raleigh. They are just as great as all the others. Now the hard part... decision time!!

2 Week Stats

We visited Dr. Durant again this morning for Micah's 2 week appointment. For those of you good at math, yes, he is actually 2 weeks and 4 days old. This is just how they schedule the appointments here in Sumter. Despite the long wait (2 hours!) and one very hungry newborn we had a great visit. Micah has been quite the grower these past two weeks he gained one pound and one inch since his last visit! His stats are now:

Weight: 7 lbs 9 oz (25th percentile)
Height: 20.5 in (50th percentile)

Everything else checked out well and the doctor was actually really impressed with him because when he went level with him laying on the table and then lowered and raised his head Micah's eyes followed him. He said that was very advanced for a two week old. I knew he was a genius! We are excited that we got a clean bill of health and are not looking forward as much to our next appointment when we have to get a shot.

This is Micah's excited face for being so healthy and smart:

We also call this the "Touchdown" face!

This is how he feels about getting a shot at his next appointment:

We love Aunt Jenny!

We had a special treat this week when Brad's sister Jenny came out to visit us in South Carolina and lend a helping hand. Micah could tell she was an experienced mommy and would quiet right down and cuddle up to her every time she held him. Needless to say, I let her hold him A LOT! He just loved spending time with her!

Micah cuddling with Aunt Jenny

We spent most of our time just being low key and relaxing in front of the TV but did make it out to do a couple of fun things. We went to Swan Lake and took a walk around the pond, stretched our legs, and enjoyed the first blooms of spring.

Micah posing with the very loud Swans

And with some of the first blooms

We dropped Jenny off at the airport this morning and were so sad to see her go. We wish we could be closer to all of our family!

Bath Time!

Micah's umbilical cord fell off this week so we were able to give him his first bath in the tub. He was not too sure about this. We tried to make it just right but he still ended up crying through most of it. We love our clean little baby though!

Sleep time and Play time!

Brad has been such an amazing father to Micah and such a big help to me! After I am done feeding Micah, Brad will often take him for play time or what turns into nap time! I can't resist snapping pics of Daddy and his little man asleep together... it is just too cute!

Daddy and Micah sleeping

and again!

We had our first play date (or what would more accurately be called Mommy's walking date) this week. Micheale and Baby Shaun (you might remember he was born a week and two days before Micah and had his very own post on my blog) came over and we got out our fancy jogging strollers and hit the streets to enjoy the beautiful weather and get rid of the baby weight! Shaun and Micah slept right through the entire thing, but the Mommies had fun and burned some calories. Here is the little guys... pooped after their 3 mile walk.
