Lazy Boys!

This is a cute pic I captured this morning of my boys hanging out and being lazy! I love these boys!

Go Biscuits!

When most people think biscuits they think breakfast, but when people in Montgomery think Biscuits they think baseball! The Biscuits are a very spiritedly supported minor league baseball team in Montgomery. The Biscuit is a pretty fierce mascot, I know! And we not only got to go to the game but we had front row seats for Micah's first baseball game. He was wide awake and cheering on the Biscuits until it got to be bedtime then he got comfy in the sling and slept through the rest. We had a fun night at the ol' ball park!

The Montgomery Biscuits! (Note the biscuit perched a top the scoreboard)

Take me out to the ball game

Really into the game!

Front row joe!

The moon rising over the ballpark

3 strikes... he's out!

2 Months Old

Micah-

Today you are 2 months old! How the time has flown! You bring such joy into our lives everyday. This month brought lots of firsts. You started standing and really demand for us to help you stand up most times that you are awake and playing with us. You really enjoy working your muscles and we think that any day you are just going to take off running! You also gave us your first gummy grins this month. At first you would just smile in the mornings but as you got used to smiling you smile when ever we play your favorite games with you day or night. My favorite thing in the world right now is when I come to get you out of your crib in the morning you will look up at me and give me your biggest, happiest smile! The latest first that we have had is cooing. You are starting to "talk" to us and sometimes you even sing along to the radio in the car. Some of your recent favoites include Taylor Swift and Justin Timeberlake. We love hearing your voice and your Daddy is especially good at speaking baby to you and you and he often have whale-like conversations and Mommy just loves to sit back and watch.

You are ever more alert and aware of the world around you. You cry less now and instead actively take in everything going on around you. We are giving you lots to look at too as we took our first big road trip (outside of mommy's tummy) this month. We drove from our home in South Carolina all the way to Montgomery Alabama to accompany Daddy to a school he had to attend for work. You now have visited Georgia and Alabama. 3 states by the time you were 6 weeks old! Not too shabby! You are enjoying going all sorts of places with Mommy while Daddy is working. We go on lots of walks and errands. You love being in the fresh air and are so happy looking at all of the bright colors of spring outside. You also have been enjoying shopping trips with Mommy. All of the things to see in the stores seem to keep you wide awake and alert. There was so much to do and see this month and we did our best to soak it all in!

This month has also brought much more regularity to all of our schedules. We have worked really hard since day one to do things that will promote a healthy schedule for you and you are beginning to thrive on this. We always eat after nap time, then we spend time together and play and then nap all over again. This all leads up to bedtime where you are now giving Mommy up to 6 hours of sleep at a time! Mommy and Daddy are both much more well rested and so proud of how well you are adjusting to night time sleep.

Our happy family is getting the hang of life together. It seems that time is a precious commodity and we are trying to treasure every moment and experience with you. This month was such fun seeing your personality begin to develop and we can't wait to see what unfolds each new day!

Love,
Mom and Dad

Caught a Smile!

I kinda caught one of Micah's smiles yesterday. It was a pretty good attempt anyway!

This was outfit number 3 for the day. We had a poo-splosion on outfit number one and Micah tinkled on outfit number 2 mid diaper change (I should have been using the pee pee- tee pees that Kelley got for me!) So we ended the day in outfit number 3. I was excited to be bale to put him in it though. It was one of the things I got on my shopping spree last week. It was on clearance so I had to get it despite the fact that I wasn't sure he would wear it since it has gotten really hot and we only swaddle him at night in his diaper and don't put him in pajamas. Fortunately it was pretty cool yesterday so when I needed to change it clothes it was the perfect opportunity to put him into something a bit warmer.
And I just **LOVE** the feet!

Since it is newborn sized I don't know if we will get to wear it again but it was totally worth the clearance purchase. It was fun to see how much he had grown though. This is the same brand (Carter's) as many of the outfits we dressed him in on his first weeks at home. They used to eat him alive, but now he was a nice snug fit into it (mostly in length). My how he has grown!

What's New in Month Two!

Micah has been busy busy this month learning new things and keeping us amazed at how he changes every day. At 5 weeks he really started getting good control over his head and then he started "standing" where he will hold his legs stiff and want you to help him stand. By Six weeks we didn't even have to support any of his weight just keep him balanced and upright. At the beginning of the second month he started smiling more. Now especially in the mornings he is just all smiles! This is still difficult to catch on camera since as soon as you get it out he becomes distracted by it, but we are still working on getting the perfect pic. Also at 5 weeks I feel like we had a breakthrough on me feeling like he was much more predictable in his schedule. After all of our hard work on the eat and sleep schedule he began having sleep and eat patterns throughout the day and night. We still have our good days and nights and bad days and nights but overall I am feeling much more in control.

The big development for week 7 is cooing. He is now starting to "talk" to us and interact with us when we play with him. Again, very difficult to catch on camera since he will get distracted when we get it out but I was able to catch a really brief coo on camera below. Sorry if you get sea sick... I was filming him in the swing!

What we did today...

After having a rather rough day yesterday we had a good night last night and Micah woke up all smiles this morning. Since he was in such a good mood I put him in one of the cute new outfits that I got him last week. Even though I hadn't really bought him hardly any clothes so far since we have been blessed with so many gifts and hand-me-downs I broke down last week and went on a small shopping spree for him. The weather here has been really warm and much too hot to put him in pants and because he is still so small he still can't wear sized 0-3 bottoms. So all that I have been able to dress him in is onesies and he has been going pantless. I have two pairs of 0-3 mo shorts but they look like dresses on him! I found this outfit at Target and as you know we are suckers for anything that says "Dirt" on it. If you can't read it, this outfit says "Dirt Makes Me Happy."

After I got him fed and dressed this morning we had some tummy time on the boppy and some time on our fun play mat while Mommy and Daddy ate lunch. You can kind of even see his hair growing in these pics. I told Brad today that sometimes I feel like he grows overnight and I think last night was one of those nights. He just looked so big today. It could have been that most clothes are too big on him and this outfit actually fits him, who knows! Enjoy the pics of our day!

Baby Burrito

This is my little baby burrito. Every night as a part of our night time routine we swaddle Micah up and get him ready for bed. He sleeps really well in his crib when he is swaddled. He is establishing a routine now where he will go to sleep between 8:30-9 pm then wake up between 1-2 am and then again between 5-6 am. He is usually up for the day between 7-8. Nights have been going very smoothly most of the time now. He seems to understand night time sleep and almost always goes right back to sleep after his nighttime feedings. Mommy is getting more used to the schedule and we are all a little more well rested these days!
