Mmmmm...... Rice Cereal!
In anticipation of Micah turning 5 months old tomorrow we decided it was time to give the little guy some solid food. We have been back and forth on when to start them and finally decided that Micah was more than ready. He sits up now without support, he is super interested in anything we are eating and will open his mouth if you move a spoon to it. We decided to start with rice cereal. They say to start with one tablespoon for the first time you introduce solids. I thought that seemed like nothing but once we added the milk it ended up to be way more than Micah could eat.
Micah did great on his first try. I wouldn't say that Micah thought the cereal was a gourmet delicacy, but I think he might have managed to swallow a little bit!
"I have no idea what I'm in for!"
"What's that Mom?"
"Hmmm that looks kinda fun!"

Hey Big Sitter!
Micah is starting to go upright! People have been asking me for a while now if Micah is sitting. My answer has been no. He could balance for a few seconds sometimes but not what I would really classify as sitting. Just yesterday the tables turned! He started sitting for more extended periods! I would say the longest he has balanced sitting is probably right around a minute but you can tell he is quickly mastering this skill. It will be no time before it is just nothing to him. Another thing he has been working had on is grabbing his pacifier and placing it in his mouth. This one is proving to be difficult especially because we use the Mam pacifiers and the end is big and round so most of the time he tries to get that side in his mouth instead of the paci end. Oh well we will update you on that more later.
You can see the big boy sitting here...
Which often results in "TIMBER!!!!"

Twinkies!
This past Sunday we decided we were going to take Micah to the church nursery for the first time. I knew he needed a super cute outfit for church and was trying to think about what he should wear while I was feeding him. When Brad came in the room I knew exactly what outfit Micah would be wearing! What do you think?!

Water Baby
The fourth of July we got a special treat! We got to go over to our good friends home and put Micah in the pool for the first time (well... we tried once before but didn't get past his toes!) This time he did much better and i would venture to say he even liked it! The pool was pretty cool but he did great and we stayed in until the big kids got to the party and started splashing, which he really wasn't too fond of.

Meet the Exersaucer
Micah's newest toy is the exersaucer. We didn't know if he would be big enough for it since just a few weeks before we had tried out a jumparoo and he was still too small to enjoy it. They do grow and change every day though and after we got back to SC we tried out the exersaucer at a friends house and he went absolutely crazy over it! We had to have one!

Fun in the Sun
We had such a fun long 4th of July weekend. It was a real treat that Brad got off both Friday and Monday and after the long trip away from Daddy while we were in Texas Daddy and Micah were both really excited to get to spend lots of time together. We started our weekend with an amazing lake trip with our new friends the Buessings and our old friends the Florendos. We loaded up and headed off to Lake Wateree.
As you can see Micah really enjoyed wearing this super comfortable life jacket we bought him for the trip.

Found my toes
One of the first things I noticed when we got back from our Texas trip is that I would find Micah in his crib in the morning very fascinated with grabbing his toes. Now he is very smart and advanced in many ways but flexibility isn't one of them. He works hard to get them but I don't think he will ever be one of those babies you see with their feet in their mouth, but that is okay with me.
Another thing that we noticed after we got back was that Micah was one hungry little guy. Right before we left Texas we had him weighed and he was right at 13lbs. Almost exactly one week later we weighed him and he was right at 14 lbs! That is a pretty big jump at this age for one week. He is growing fast and learning new things every day!
Back to blogging
After a couple of weeks off I am back in the game! We have our Internet finally set up and I got a new laptop for my birthday so after a few days of getting it all set up and all the pictures transferred on it we are in business! Here is a pic of my favorite little guy. We have had so many changes and firsts over the past couple of weeks there is lots to catch up on. Look for one or many posts every day this week!
