Our sweet baby boy is 2! Sometimes time seems to drag but when you hit a milestone like this it makes it seem that times goes so, so fast. Micah is such a joy and every day he just becomes so much more of a fun loving, independent, little man. He is talking in phrases now and loves to say the following:
I did it
I show Daddy
My turn
I see you
See ya! (as in see you later!)
I love you too (pronounced I wov you....too)
baby seester
And sooooooo many more! He eats well, plays hard, and loves his friends and family. He loves any mode of transportation whether it is airplanes, cars, trucks, and especially choo choos. We got a great hand-me-down gift from our friends the Vests of a train set and he is mildly obsessed with it. We build trains most days now. He also likes balls and most anything sports related. A funny story about this... Brad's father had built him a lamp made out of a TN Vols football helmet when he was a boy and after moving we unpacked this lamp and decided we should put it in Micah's room. He saw it and got so excited about the "football hat" we had to explain to him that he couldn't wear it because since it was nailed down it wouldn't fit him. He went around for about the next two weeks saying "football hat no fit... football hat no fit." We are working on a solution for that.
Micah likes to run, not walk. We were at Costco a few weeks ago and when we got out there was a cart right by our car. I got Micah out and said "Do you want to walk?" With the intention being the other option was to ride in the cart. His response was "No Mommy, Run!" Well okay then I suppose that is a logical alternative. He loves the outdoors and running around. We usually go out either in the backyard or to the park almost every day. When we are in the backyard he finds it necessary to make sure I know he is 100% boy by running, jumping, kicking the balls, digging in the rocks, and just so there is no doubt, throwing dirt all over himself and rolling around in dead grass. Needless to say, we have lots more baths these days. His favorite game to play with Daddy is called corners. I don't know if Brad made it up or I just don't know about this because I am a girl. The basic jest is to go to your "corner" (basically spread apart from each other) and then count to three then charge and tackle. I think it is a guy thing.
Despite his rough and tumble exterior Micah is still my little snuggle bug. He can be so sensitive and hates it when he hears other kids crying and will always be very concerned for them often looking to me and asking why they are crying. He also loves to give hugs and kisses. If he is saying goodnight or good bye and gives a kiss he will look at you and say "and hug" to make sure he gets a hug too. One of his new favorite things with Mommy is to "SQUEEEEEEZE!" When we give hugs we repeatedly hug and squeeze tight saying "squeeeeeeeeze!"
Micah is not only talking, but learning by leaps and bounds. He can count to twelve and recite random parts of his ABC's. However, he will usually not perform these on command. Micah has really developed a love of books. We read everyday before nap and bed and many times in between as well. I love turning on the monitor in the morning because he is almost always sat up in his bed with a book in his lap reading to himself. He is also learning to sing and loves ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, and the Clean Up Song. Throughout the day he will break into these or just make up his own tune. He enjoys most things musical whether it is dancing to others music or making his own. He got a harmonica for Christmas and can out play all of us. He enjoys his piano, xylophone and whistle too. One day Brad was drumming on the dinner table and Micah started to drum along with Brad. Then he cracked us up because he would all of a sudden strike a pose (mostly by crossing his arms and making a funny face) and just freeze, then start drumming again. Hilarious! What joy he brings to us everyday!
Everyday with my sweet boy proves to be a new adventure. He keeps us on our toes and rolling with laughter. How much fuller our lives have become with just one pint sized little guy.
