Orange Baby Food Day!

What is Wednesday Sept 29th you ask?  Well it is orange baby food making day of course! 

I have been making almost all of Micah's food (only not making his cereal... hey I can't spend all day processing grains!)  We were running low on orange food so today became orange food day.  I stocked up yesterday at the store on sweet potatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash, and speghetti squash.  Good thing they were having a sale on squash!!  I spent ALL day making this stuff and still have a couple of dirty dishes left waiting on me.  I am hoping we now have a lifetime supply of orange baby food and I won't have to make it again!  Believe it or not, this picture is only about half of what I made... there is just as much already in the freezer.  I figured out that I made roughly $50 (Wal-mart price) of baby food for only $15!  I guess that makes it worth it.

Man's Best Friend

Our friends who we shared a cabin with while we were camping this weekend had a very friendly huskie mix  named Shasta.  Micah thought this was the coolest new toy that he had ever seen!  He followed that dog all around the cabin where ever he went.  Shasta thought Micah wasn't too bad either.  He even gave him a few kisses!

Micah loved his first trip to  the swingset!  He thought he was a big kid and was just so excited at the new sensation.

Camping fun!

This past weekend we went camping with all the families from Brad's squadron.  There is a lake about 45 min away that has an area owned by Shaw Air Force Base (where Brad is stationed) that has cabins, lake, access, ans a playground.  Of course the first thing Micah wanted to do was play on the playground.  He had his first time in the swing and loved it!

The next day we hit the lake and went out on a boat with some friends.  Micah was decked out for the occasion.  He really enjoys the boat ride (but no so much the life jacket.)  He even gets so relaxed out there with the water, the air, and the wind in his hair that he fell asleep and took a good long nap.  And doesn't he look comfortable?

Picture Perfect Family!

We had a wonderful trip to Myrtle Beach last week with Brad's family.  We spent lots of time at the beach and spending fun time with the fam.  One of my goals before we left was to get some family pics.  We got up early on our last day and took some pics.  A special thanks to Julie for playing photographer and to Tracy for letting us use her fancy camera!  Unfortunatly the day was not as pretty as we would have liked.  Even though we were out at sunrise the weather was cloudy and it was reletively gray.  Once we got the photos back I took my favorites and just photoshopped in a beautiful day!  It is absolutely amazing how you can change an image!  I am still learning and concurrently chasing after a 6 month old so they aren't perfect but I am certainly getting better.  I thought I would include the before and afters for you to enjoy!

Getting Around!

For those of you who have been just dying with suspense to see Micah crawling here are some videos.  The little guy can really get around now and I am pretty sure he is faster than me!

Dancing Fool!

Hallelujah!  I can post video!  I have been having such a hard time doing this, so finally!!!  This is a really fun video of Micah at the beach last week having fun dancing in his exersaucer.  He has recently learned to turn the music on his toys on then start to bop up and down along with it.  It is just way too cute for words.  In this video he really gets into it although sometimes he is more subdued.

6 mo check up

All is well on the Micah home front! We had our 6 mo check up today and the stats are as follows:

Height: 26" 30%

Weight:17lbs 2 oz 15%

Head:17.5 in 50%

All of this is good news! He is growing and developing on track. The doctor said it was common for their weight to drop a bit around the time they become mobile and he said Micah was ahead of the curve on mobility! So thankful for another great check up!

Pulling up, Standing up, and piggy back rides!

So much to blog and so little time! We have had a fun filled and busy September. We were on vacation last week with Brad's family at Myrtle beach last week. More pictures and stories to come on that in a separate post. During the week Micah got two teeth as I posted before. We are all much happier now that they are in. Before we left Micah was crawling like crazy and starting to show signs of pulling up. All week while we were there the poor kid couldn't be mobile because the floors were all tile and always soooo sandy. So when we got home we were surprise to find that he crawled right over to his activity table and pulled up to his knees and then to standing! This scares Mommy just a little bit because not only is he not super stable but he also thinks he is a big kid and trys to just take off walking! Needless to say that usually ends in a face plant! Now that he is very stable sitting , standing and holding his weight up Daddy has started giving Micah shoulder rides. Micah thinks this is pretty close to the best thing ever and just gives a huge grin as Brad struts him around the house. I have taken some videos of his accomplishments but have been having a tough time uploading them for some reason so to be continued with videos soon!

Micah loves his Daddy time! He is so excited to see him and will follow him around the house!

Teeth part 2

Tooth number two was, as expected, right behind number one. On Thursday the second tooth broke through. So he now has his bottom left and right center teeth. I have to say he is a whole different baby when he is teething. I can't imagine how much it must hurt because he is actually a pretty tough guy and doesn't cry much when he gets hurt. Friday and today have been quite a bit better. I am not at all excited for more teeth coming in though!

Teeth!

We have a tooth! It has not been fun but Micah finally got a tooth through yesterday! It is his bottom front left tooth. I am pretty sure the right tooth is just right behind it because the fussiness, drooling and chewing continues and you can see it just trying to break through! So far I am not a big fan of this teething business!

Beach Boy!

The only thing Micah loves more than the ocean is spending time with his daddy! Just watch!

6 Month Photos

We had another photo shoot with Raleigh! We are so lucky to have such a talented friend!


Micah was in one of his "teething" moods so that is just a testament to Raleigh's talent to see how well the photos came out. We will have part two of the photo session to get family photos in a couple of weeks. Let me know which is your favorite so I can figure out which ones to order!

I just uploaded pics from "the other camera." It is the one Brad mainly uses but we do take a few pics of Micah on it occasionally. I haven't downloaded pics from it for awhile but found some fun shots so I thought I would share!





I thought it was pretty funny when I put my sunglasses on Micah but I don't know... Maybe it is his style, haha!



Our niece Jordan has always sucked her two middle fingers instead of her thumb. Micah still doesn't regularly suck on his fingers but occasionally will get the thumb in there. The other day though we caught him sucking on the middle ones, so this is for you Jordie!

First Day of "School"

I joined an organization here in Sumter called MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers). I am really excited about it because it seems like it should be a great way to meet other Moms of young kids in the area. It is hosted by the church we go to which is great because it is just around the corner from our house. We get to go twice a month and Micah goes to his class and I get to hang out with the moms. We had our first day of MOPS last Thursday and we were ready to go! Since I have never been I didn't really know what to expect but there were about 100 girls there. Everyone is randomly assigned to a table you will sit at for the remainder of the semester. I didn't know anyone at my table so I will get to make lots of new friends. Throughout the year they will have speakers, play games, make crafts and have outings. It seems like it will be a great time. Micah had a little bit of a tougher time because unfortunately MOPS was right in the middle of his nap time. And wouldn't you know that he was the only baby in that room that wouldn't take a nap in the nursery! The workers were great though and said he was a great baby, just a little tired (and fussy). We will ave to try to figure out a way to get him a little nap in before we go next time or something!
