Micah-
You are three months old today and every day just gets better and better. You have always been such a joy in our lives but as you grow and develop your personality we just fall more in love with you each day. Every day we get to see more smiles and we treasure these special moments as you learn about the world around you.
The theme for this month must be "new". You had so many new experiences and almost every day you amaze us by mastering a new skill. At the beginning of this month you had your first trip to the beach. We took a trip to beautiful, sunny, Florida to visit our dear friends the Vest's. Outside of our family they probably love you more than anyone! Jason and Danielle were like a second Mom and Dad and Kate and Elijah were just like a fun older brother and sister. You loved playing with them and they could keep you entertained for hours watching their silly antics! You gave them a very rare bunch of huge smiles from your sleepy state first thing we got there. After that the smiles never stopped. We attempted many times to go to the beach but for the most part the weather didn't cooperate. Fortunately we got one beautiful day. We got you suited up and we hit the beach. You LOVED the sound of the waves, and although the sun was a little too bright for you and you spent most of your time under the umbrella you did take a very sound nap on the white sand! We were all sad to leave Florida when the time came. Another new experience this month was Baseball! We got to go to two games! You had fun cheering on the team and you must be a good luck charm because the home team won both times! The first time we went you couldn't quite make it and fell asleep by the 4th inning. The second time though you were the life of the party and stayed wide awake until the end. Needless to say we were pooped when we got home and luckily you and I both got to sleep in!
You have developed physically so much this month. At only 9 weeks old you rolled over from your front to your back for the first time. The first time this happened we were on the bed and you were on a slight incline so I thought it might have been a fluke but I set you on a nice flat surface and you amazed me and did it again. At that point you didn't much enjoy being on your tummy so I think that gave you just enough incentive to learn to roll. I was so amazed at how quickly you mastered this skill! Just in the last few days you have shown signs of getting close to rolling over the other way, front to back too. You can make it over on your side but you aren't quite convinced you want to go all the way. You have also worked those arm muscles and gotten rather good a pushing yourself up when placed on your tummy. It still takes quite a bit of effort and tires you out but you look so cute while doing it! The most recent physical development is sitting up. You can now sit up (when assisted) and hold your torso and neck up very straight and supported. You are really enjoying this new perspective being able to be upright without having to stand, although you still love working those legs too!
You are becoming such a playful kid! We love spending time with you singing, playing games, and introducing you to new toys. You mastered reaching and grabbing this month and you use this to grab your toys. The first toy we gave you was a stuffed animal doggie on the top and a blanket on the bottom. You loved it. You grabbed it and put it in your mouth and then swung it from side to side. You have a couple of toys that you like to play with now and even have fun swinging around your burp cloths when I leave them within your reach. Bath time has also become playtime. Up to this month you weren't too sure about that warm tub of water but this month you decided it was pretty nice to have your own little hot tub. You like to wiggle and splash in the water as I give you your bath. We love this new playful side of your personality.
Friends and even strangers comment on how wide open your eyes always are. We know it is just you taking in this big new world. As always we are amazed by how you grow and change. Those eyes take in everything. I even catch you sometimes watching TV these days, although you always much prefer Mommy or Daddy time. This has been a month to remember!
Love,
Mom and Dad
